Keepers of the Seeds

This is a collection of several mostly locally gathered seed pods/fruits, including Clematis, American Bladdernut, Japanese Lantern, Milkweed, acorn, Velvet Leaf, Datura, Butternut shells and an unknown collected in Florida. I chose each for this image, fascinated by their forms and the means by which they hold the seeds of the next generation for dispersal. The butternut “faces” begged to be at the top of the composition, giving it a mythic quality. The top/center face is a composite of its companions.
