Calling Dr. Freud

Sometimes, with plentiful rain, a fungus (Hypomyces) attacks a common local mushroom (Amanita rubescens) and distorts it into something completely different. Normally,its form looks similar to A. muscaria. When I found a clump of these oddities in the summer of 2009, they begged to go on my scanner.
