Birch Nest

I found this lovely nest while on a recent walk. It's beautifully woven from small roots and strips of plastic that likely came from a faux burlap bag or a tarp. This image speaks to the adaptability of nature. 100 years ago, might the nest have been constructed with horse's hair or wool? White birch bark is not only strikingly beautiful and ideal as tinder...it also has medicinal properties.
